Holidays with winter sun

The island of Sal in Cape Verde has been getting a response while considering it as a tourist destination. The view is not quite inspiring but the island has a much to offer. The Cape Verde archipelago has ten islands within around four hundred miles off coast of West African country Senegal. The Sal Island is one among the two islands of Cape Verde to where you can fly directly from London. Most of the visitors come through package tours. The presence of winter sun is the most impressing factor than pleasing scenery. The island may not be impressive as the island has nothing to show off for a viewer from the flight, it has just dusty plains and unfinished buildings which can be seen as skeletons from the flight.

These buildings are the outcome of half-finished projects by the foreign investors. The trip from airport to the Santa Maria resort will draw the attention to the place called Cotton Bay where you can find a shopping centre, a golf course and many developments are said to be planned. The main problem of the island is that there scarcity of fresh water. The name of the4 island ‘sal’ itself is the Portuguese version of salt. The major source of water is the desalination plants in the island. After three days we moved on to island named Fogo, which is known as “island of fire” as this Cape Verde Island still has an active volcano. The beach of Santa Maria is picture-perfect and it is the place where locals teach the visitors to kitesurf. Cape Verdeans are people who are very proud of the islands as the most part of this island is an unspoilt and special destination. The inner portion of Santiago is mountainous and green, which has a landscape of fertile valleys which has papaya trees and banana plantations.

The supper of the hotel is especially lovely and even the locals apparently comes to the ‘Quinta de Montanha’ to eat as the food is particularly good and the meat, vegetables and fruit are all collected locally. The scenery of this part is awesome and has abundant and lush plots of papaya, pineapples and mangoes. The houses in this area are painted with shades of mint and turquoise, and against the greenery of the jungle and dark woods the colors are quite stunning. It takes just twenty minutes to reach Fogo from Santiago in flight. The major highlight of Fogo is climbing the volcanic Pico do Fogo which is the highest mountain of Cape Verde with a height of 2,829m. Most of the roads of this island need a repair very badly. The island can also be a small shopping destination from where you can buy souvenirs which are made from the molten lava by the local children. The volcano’s recent eruption was in 1995. The stay was in a placed named Pousada Pedro Brabo bed and breakfast which is built of the lava brick and also has a decent courtyard and the food served is particularly awesome. The land is very fertile of the lava ash and the wine made in this island is pretty popular. Maldives holidays
